Happy hump day. It's unreal to think that it's only Wednesday. I haven't been this busy in a long time, but busy isn't a bad thing. I submitted 4 rough draft lesson plans today. I'm sure that rough is a good word for them. We learned how to test our students' reading level today because we will be meeting them tomorrow! It seems too good to be true. I cannot wait to talk to them and see their faces. We only get four weeks with them, so we have to make that time count. I am so thankful for their parents for letting them participate in summer school with Teach for America. I know that we are all so eager to be with them and teach them everything that we can. We are dedicated to making these lesson plans fun and meaningful and I am sure that people will work on them until the sun rises, literally. There is a lot to submit tonight and I am sure that there will be a few all nighters pulled. Welcome back to college.
Today was such an exciting day because I was e-mailed my class list for this fall! It is so surreal to look at a list and see: Teacher name- Abney. I think I stared at it for a few minutes until I came back down to reality. There are real names, of real first graders. This is real. I cannot wait to greet them at the door of my classroom. Whoa.
All my love from Phoenix,
