Today is the end of the first week and every TFAer is trying to escape campus and try to relax for .2 seconds. There is officially four weeks left until I am done with institute, and I already feel like I've lived in Phoenix for months. I joked today that I am officially a native because I wore a cardigan in the 90 degree weather. Welcome to Arizona. But honestly, tonight is the most beautiful night. The weather is so perfect and part of me would rather sleep outside. They crank up the air conditioner EVERYWHERE here and I always prefer to scorch outside. If you haven't been to Phoenix yet, I will gladly sell you. There is so much to offer.
As for institute, I was able to test more of my students today and my team and I officially set up our classroom! It came together so well and I can't wait to start teaching them. I already know I will want so much more time with them. Our theme for them is about growing T.A.L.L. This stands for teamwork, ask questions, listen, and love learning. So not only will our little babies grow an inch, we hope they grow through character as well. They have so much to offer, and I cannot wait to let their creativity run wild.
We had a mini ceremony to officially become a summer school teacher at institute. Instead of wearing my Jacey name tag, I was given my official Ms. Abney name tag. This is really happening. Bring it on!
All my love from Phoenix,
Jacey xxo
